Tribute to Rufus Grant’s 90th Birthday Celebration

Congratulations, Pa, you have reached the legendary age of 90. You have seen 90 years of changes in the City of Miami. You have seen the transitions of recording from a reel tape machine to a camcorder and now your iPad. What a legendary status you have obtained in life! I use the term legendary for the fact that only 14.37% of men in the U.S. have reached this milestone.  The numeral 90 represents the completion of a cycle resulting in wisdom from a complete life of experiences. We can all attest to your profound wisdom from our Sunday Night Zoom sessions to indelible comments like it ain’t over until the fat lady sings.

You are the patriarch of this clan that I have through your daughter, Debra. So, we owe gratitude for your favors and appreciation for your guidance and encouragement throughout the years. Your presence at our family events like Thanksgivings, graduations, weddings, anniversaries, ball games, and all the special occasions that you attended in Alabama, Georgia, Virginia, and even the Virgin Islands, including both celebrations and sad times, had a profound impact, on me and my family. Your presence meant more than you will ever imagine. Thank you, Pa, for being you.
