Improbable Possibilities

The relationship between a father and son is stronger than any other bond, including friendships, brotherhood, and sisterhood. My bond with my father was incredible because I relied on him for everything. He guided me from my childhood into adulthood. For example, when I became a father, I realized the significance of each call from my child, as it carries different meanings based on the context.

1.      When my son called me “Dad,” it reminded me of a title that no one else can share except my offspring.

2.      When he calls to say “hi to me,” this call expresses endearment because this call exemplifies affection and respect.

3.      When he calls to request guidance regarding an issue, everything must cease at that moment so I can fully and totally focus on him.

4.      When he calls and says, "Dad, now I understand what you meant,” that call alone reminds me of my authority as a father in his life.

God wanted such a relationship with His selected family in the Old Testament. This relationship becomes evident when He communicated the second time with Jeremiah while locked up in the King’s jail. Notice what God reminds His people:

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you marvelous things that you do not know.

Jeremiah 33:3.

Remember, only a caring and loving Father will remind His son to call him. Therefore, in times of despair and uncertainty, God invites us to turn to Him in prayer. Then, He promises to provide answers, guidance, and incredible blessings that surpass our expectations. Only through a relationship with God the Father can we thoroughly understand our circumstances. Reviewing this verse reminds me that God's love and care extend to all who seek Him. So, no matter how challenging your circumstances may be, we can find solace and strength in His presence.

Beyond the Otherside

I present the same Biblical truth on this website from a different perspective. Although God’s word remains unchanged, our experiences can provide new viewpoints. Therefore, I intend to develop a series of eBooks to share my reflections with you. I have held two careers: 33 years in the Army Reserves, reaching the rank of Colonel, and 43 years in higher education as an administrator. Due to my various leadership roles, I possess a broad range of experience working with Soldiers and students of all ages. I have observed numerous incidents that I have valued over the years. Now, I am applying those experiences to Kingdom work at the OLM School of Ministry as an instructor and administrator.
