Thought to Remember: Twisted blessings do more harm than good.
Lessons learned:
Amos chapter 6 is the danger of false security in wealth. Don’t become complacent in your material blessings, thinking that because of them, God is pleased.
Wealth and power are irrelevant to righteousness.
As believers, we must value being vigilant and humble when pursuing justice and righteousness rather than relying on material wealth or social status to execute Kingdom Work. Amos’ prophecy condemns the self-indulgence of those who feel secure in their wealth and power. The consequences of Israel’s actions toward their wealth included exile and destruction. Yet, their behavior toward God serves as a testimony for New Testament believers. So, Today, we live in a society characterized by an unequal distribution of wealth. Yet, wealth has no connection with justice and righteousness. What are you waiting for to execute justice and righteousness within your community?
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, You are a God of mercy because we do not always choose to love what is good, seek justice, and walk humbly before You. Yet, we thank You for another chance to love good, seek justice, and walk humbly before You. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
